Health Statistics Continue Dramatic Improvements; Gov. Murphy Announces End to Mask Mandate in Schools - Seton Hall University

The State's public health statistics continue to improve with cases, hospitalizations and the transmission rate (.51) continuing their declines.

Citing the rapid improvement in public health statistics, Governor Murphy Announced That Universal School Mask Mandate Will Be Lifted Effective March 7. Several other states followed suit, announcing the end of their (K-12) school mask mandates. The CDC continues to advise mask wearing in areas of high transmission, although it noted it is reviewing its advice.

We are highly encouraged by the continued, significant improvements in the state’s health statistics and the low case levels across the University. For now, the University's indoor mask mandate remains in place. The HICT continues to meet weekly, analyzing local, state, and federal government guidance along with public and campus health statistics to inform any adjustments to the University's health and safety protocols. Any change will be thoroughly considered and communicated
