Young Catholic Professionals Gather at Seton Hall

ycp groupThe Center for Catholic Studies and the Micah Institute for Business and Economics at Seton Hall University partnered with Young Catholic Professionals (YCP) North Jersey to present “Spiritual Wisdom and Practices for the Workday,” an Executive Speaker Series event that drew about 50 young professionals from across North Jersey and upstate New York.

The program began at 7 p.m. in the University Center Event Lounge, where attendees gathered for early networking. Seton Hall alumni, faculty, staff and regional professionals attended, seeking meaningful community and guidance on integrating faith into their workplaces.

At 7:45 p.m., YCP North Jersey President Christine Fargnoli welcomed participants and led the opening prayer. She highlighted YCP’s mission to support young adults navigating the challenges of their 20s and 30s, inviting them to “come and see” how Catholic community can transform their professional lives.

Patrick Manning at EventPatrick Manning, Ph.D., associate professor of Pastoral Theology and director of the Center for Catholic Studies, delivered his Executive Speaker Address at 7:50 p.m. His talk explored spiritual practices suitable for the workday and encouraged attendees to view vocation as a living relationship with God. He emphasized courage, integrity and spiritual grounding as essential traits for Catholic professionals. Participants engaged enthusiastically during the Q&A session and continued conversations after the evening’s closing prayer.

“We were delighted to host the Young Catholic Professionals group at Seton Hall,” Manning said. “YCP is a beautiful example of how the Church envisions lay people living out their faith in the world. We are hopeful that ongoing collaborations between Seton Hall and YCP will assist our students in finding Catholic community and living from their Catholic values after graduation.”

Sam McDonald at Event“It was a wonderful evening of community and faith-filled connection,” said Sam McDonald, programs manager for the Center for Catholic Studies. “Young adults from across the region engaged deeply with the themes of the night and with one another. Manning offered a practical and grounded vision for integrating spiritual practices into daily work. We are grateful to YCP North Jersey for their support and partnership.”

The event was part of the YCP Executive Speaker Series, a free public program designed to foster Catholic identity, strengthen community and inspire action in the workplace and beyond. To participate in future YCP events, please visit the YCP website.
