Serving the Local Church
In addition to its numerous campus-wide initiatives and programs, the Center for Catholic Studies has an increasing impact off campus - in the local Church, the community and around the country. While many Catholic colleges and universities were founded by a particular religious order and thus follow a particular charism in their educational ministry, Seton Hall is unique as one of ten diocesan universities in the country. An Archdiocesan University has direct ties to and a responsibility to serve the local Church. The Center serves as a primary link between the academy and the Church and seeks new ways to serve the needs of local schools, parishes and apostolates.
Catholic Schools
Building on the Center’s long-standing history of faculty development, the Center
is privileged to be a resource for teachers and administrators of Catholic primary
and secondary schools. Through professional development days, webinars and workshops,
the Center engages educators with the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and its practical
application by providing space for them to hear from experts in the areas of Science
and Faith, Mental Health, Education, Theology, the Liberal Arts and more.
Continuing Formation and Education for Clergy
Beginning in 2025, the Center, in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Newark and
Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology, hosts workshops designed to equip priests and deacons to handle both practical and
pastoral challenges of parish life.
Catholic Professionals
With a rich history of serving business executives through the Micah Institute for
Business and Economics, the Center partners with local professional and pastoral organizations
to act as a resource for Catholics in all fields who strive to live their faith in
the workplace.
