Matthew Corrigan Appointed to Board of Mental Health Association in Orange County

Matthew Corrigan, Ph.D., professor of Social Work in the Department of Social Work and Public Administration at Seton Hall University, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Mental Health Association in Orange County (MHAOC), a private nonprofit organization that works to expand mental health resources and
support individuals and families throughout Orange County, New York.
MHAOC addresses a wide range of community needs through direct services, advocacy, public education and crisis intervention. Serving thousands of residents each year, the organization uses its WELCOME Orange approach to provide individualized, wraparound support. Its services include case management, housing assistance, peer support, crisis intervention and connections to community resources. This approach also recognizes the broader social factors that can affect an individual's well-being.
Corrigan brings substantial experience in social work education, behavioral health and substance use counseling to the board. At Seton Hall, he founded and teaches in the university's Master of Social Work (MSW) program and previously led the Department of Social Work and Public Administration. He is a licensed master social worker and a credentialed alcohol and substance abuse counselor. His research focuses on substance use prevention and treatment, mental health and social justice and his work has been published in several academic journals.
Corrigan's appointment brings his experience in social work, research and behavioral health to MHAOC, connecting his professional expertise with the organization's efforts to improve mental health services and strengthen community support.
