Poetry-in-the-Round hosts fiction writer Clare Sestanovich on Wednesday, December 1 at 7 p.m. ET in a free online event.

Clare Sestanovich is an editor at The New Yorker. Objects of Desire (Knopf, 2021), her debut story collection, came out this year to broad acclaim.

The New York Times Book Review calls Objects of Desire a "smart and accomplished debut collection" and goes on to say, "Sestanovich's prose is poised and understated, sensorily precise." Esquire writes, "Across these eleven extraordinary slice-of-life stories, Sestanovich lasers in on the role of desire in women's lives . . . Sparingly told, evoked with lacerating intimacy, these stories explode across the fault lines of the small decisions that make a life." Entertainment Weekly named Objects of Desire to their 2021 Best Debuts to Read This Summer list, praising its "satisfying human drama."

Sestanovich's fiction has appeared in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, Harper's, and Electric Literature. She lives in Brooklyn.
