Helpful Mailing Tips for Department Mail
In an effort to ensure quality mail service, please follow these guidelines:
- Inter-office correspondence must be placed in inter-office envelopes to preclude the possibility of placing postage when it is not necessary.
- Overlap flaps on envelopes if you wish mail to be sealed and stamped.
- Please notify the mail center manager at least one week in advance of a large mailing of 1000 pieces. Please call (973) 275-5899.
- When ordering merchandise please make sure the company you are ordering from puts your NAME and DEPARTMENT on the order to help insure that you receive the merchandise. Example: John Q. Pirate Chemistry/McNulty Hall Seton Hall University 400 South Orange Avenue South Orange, NJ 07079.*Note: Failure to do so may result in a timely delay of delivery.
- When addressing inter-office correspondence, please use the person’s name, department and building. Example: John Q. Pirate Chemistry/McNulty Hall *Note: Failure to do so may result in a timely delay of delivery.
- Large 8 1/2 by 11 inch envelopes must be sealed by the department.
- If your department is going to be closed, please notify the mail clerk who delivers your mail or call the mail center manager.
- If your department has a large inter-office mailing, please separate by departments and not by building or alphabetical.
- Forward on a monthly basis to the mail center a list of departmental employee changes. Please include graduate assistants and adjunct professors.
