Canvas Bootcamp Success Leads to New Training Opportunities
Thursday, August 10th, 2023
This week, the Teaching, Learning and Technology Center's instructional design team
hosted two intensive Canvas bootcamps, aimed at equipping instructors with the necessary
tools and techniques for a seamless transition to Canvas. As a result of the impressive
turnout, with over 80 faculty participants, the TLTC has added new in-person and remote
training opportunities for instructors in the coming weeks.
Canvas Bootcamps
One-day, immersive bootcamps provide instructors with everything they need to get started in Canvas. Throughout the day, engage in hands-on sessions that cover a range of topics, including organizing and creating content and assignments, tests, grading, group work, and more. The remaining sessions will be held in the Walsh Library Beck Rooms from 9 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. on:
Remote Canvas Workshops
In addition to the Canvas bootcamps, the instructional design team has developed a series of one-hour, remote workshops that take a deeper dive into individual Canvas features, such as communication, grading, assignment, and collaboration tools. Upcoming workshops include:
- Tuesday, August 22: Canvas Content and Communication
- Wednesday, August 23: Canvas Assignments, Gradebook, and SpeedGrader
- Thursday, August 24: Canvas Quizzes
- Friday, August 25: Canvas Collaboration
Canvas Open Labs
Facilitated by an Instructional Designer, Open Labs give instructors the opportunity to ask specific questions about Canvas features and functions. Whether you are seeking assistance with setting up assignments, discussions and modules or need help troubleshooting an issue, these in-person Open Labs provide personalized support to ensure a successful transition to Canvas. Stop by Walsh Library, Space154 to attend an upcoming Open Lab:
