The Fourteenth Annual Servant Leadership Day

Msng ReillyThe Fourteenth Annual Servant Leadership Day will be held on Tuesday, April 21, and is a celebration of Seton Hall University’s commitment to forming students as “servant leaders in a global society.” Sponsored by the Center for Vocation and Servant Leadership and the Office of Mission and Ministry, it is made possible by the generous benefaction of Colleen and Hank D’Alessandro, Regent. Its purpose is to provide inspiration to the Center’s Servant Leader Scholars and to all the University constituencies dedicated to the principles and practice of “servant leadership.”

To celebrate this event, all members of the Seton Hall community are invited to a talk given by Monsignor Joseph R. Reilly, S.T.L, Ph.D., from 4-5 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, in the Chancellor’s Suite, Student Center, lower level. His topic is “Leadership and the Gift of Self.”

Monsignor Reilly will reflect on leadership rooted in the example of Jesus Christ. His talk invites the University Community to consider how the pattern of the Paschal Mystery is set before each of us to accept, embrace and to live out generously. God gave us our whole being so that we might give our whole being back to God.

Monsignor Joseph R. Reilly, S.T.L., Ph.D., began his tenure as the University’s 22nd president on July 1, 2024. Since then, he has led multiple efforts to enhance Seton Hall’s historic strengths for a new generation of Pirates. Guided by a robust vision for what the University can be, Monsignor Reilly is elevating Seton Hall’s standing among leading Catholic higher education institutions.

His appointment marks the return of a priest-president to Seton Hall, which had been a hallmark of the University for 146 years of its 168-year history.

He holds a Bachelor of Sacred Theology (S.T.B.) from Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome; a Licentiate in Sacred Theology (S.T.L.) from Pontificio Istituto Teresianum in Rome; and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Fordham University.
