Seton Hall to Offer Fall Swim Lessons for Children of All Skill Levels

shu poolThis fall, Seton Hall University will welcome local families to campus through a swim lesson program designed to help children build confidence in the water and develop essential swimming skills. Open to toddlers through age-group swimmers, the program offers personalized instruction for participants at every stage of their swimming journey.

Hosted at the Arthur E. Imperatore Natatorium in the Richie Regan Recreation Center, the program will run Tuesdays and Thursdays from September 15 through November 19. Families may choose from private or small-group lessons, providing a supportive environment where young swimmers can progress at their own pace under the guidance of experienced instructors.

Whether children are becoming comfortable in the water for the first time or refining stroke technique for competitive swimming, the lessons are tailored to meet individual skill levels. Parents are encouraged to share their child's previous swimming experience during registration to help instructors place participants in the most appropriate group.

“Learning to swim is about much more than learning strokes,” said Derek Sapp, head swim instructor at Seton Hall University. “We want every swimmer to feel comfortable and confident in the water while developing skills that will help keep them safe. By working with each child at their individual level, we can create a positive experience that helps them enjoy swimming and continue to grow.”

The program is part of Seton Hall’s efforts to connect with the surrounding community and provide opportunities for local families. “Learning to swim is an important life skill, and we’re happy to provide a welcoming place where children can learn, build confidence and have fun. It’s also a meaningful way for Seton Hall to connect with and support the communities we’re proud to call home,” said Ghana Hylton, director of Campus Inclusion and Business Affairs.

Through hands-on instruction and individualized attention, participants will gain valuable swimming skills while building confidence and enjoying a fun, welcoming experience on campus. Swim lessons are open to members of the local community with children ranging from toddlers to age-group swimmers. No prerequisites are required.

Registration is now open, and additional information is available through A-SAPP Aquatics Instagram page, or by completing the online registration form.
