At Seton Hall University, we believe in nurturing the mind, heart, and spirit of every student. This spring, our student-athletes exemplified that vision with a remarkable academic achievement, earning a record-breaking cumulative GPA of 3.537, the highest in Seton Hall Athletics history. Even more impressively, all 14 athletic teams achieved a team GPA of 3.30 or higher, underscoring a culture of excellence that extends far beyond the playing field.
For the 2024–2025 academic year, student-athletes earned a 3.533 GPA, with a 3.545 GPA in the Spring 2025 semester alone. These accomplishments reflect not only the dedication of our student-athletes, but also the strength of the coaches and athletic administrators that guide them.
The Office of Academic Support Services for Student-Athletes, located in the Charles W. Doehler Academic Center for Excellence, plays a pivotal role in this success. Under the leadership of Matt Geibel, director; Amanda DiDonato, senior associate director; Carissa Leoni, associate director; and supported by Graduate Assistants Jared Miranda and Denis Kelmendi, the team provides holistic, individualized support from orientation to commencement for each student-athlete that steps foot on Seton Hall’s campus. Rooted in the values of Catholic education and the mission of the Division of Student Services, their work helps to ensure that student-athletes are not only prepared to compete, but also to lead, serve, and thrive in their academic and professional lives.
As Hannah Alexander, a softball student-athlete, put it:
It shows the hard work that is put in behind the scenes, aside from our sports, and gives us the ability to highlight our great support staff in the academic center and our amazing advisors. They help keep everything running smoothly and push us to do our best in everything we do.
This achievement is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we educate the whole person. Whether navigating academic crossroads, managing the demands of competition, or preparing for life after graduation, Seton Hall’s student-athletes are supported every step of the way — emerging as servant leaders and socially conscious citizens.
As we celebrate this milestone, we reaffirm our commitment to student success in all its forms. Congratulations to our student-athletes, and to the administrators who help them shine.
