President Joseph E. Nyre, Ph.D., has been named to the prestigious 2021 ROI Influencers: Higher Education list by ROI-NJ, a digital and print outlet covering the world of business and politics in New Jersey.
In making the announcement, ROI-NJ staff shared: "When the pandemic hit in the spring of 2020 and showed no signs of letting up, two things became clear when it came to higher education: Learning must continue — and the way students learned would be far different than ever before."
As academic institutions had to develop new policies, procedures and programs in a matter of days and weeks, the publication wanted to present to the community and the state the contributions of exemplary higher education leaders.
ROI-NJ wrote, "The 2021 ROI Influencers: Higher Education list is a way to recognize the schools, the presidents, the deans and directors, the doers and the donors that made higher education possible during the most uncertain of times."
President Nyre was one of seven academic leaders highlighted in the College Presidents: Head of the Class section. In making the selection, Seton Hall and the President received praise for innovative programs, major campus renovations being undertaken and its response to the pandemic. "The school has been incredibly forward-thinking under Nyre's leadership — including a COVID-contention plan that became a model for many."
Shortly after his arrival, Dr. Nyre was also ranked on the ROI-NJ Higher Education Influencers Power List for 2020.
