"Seton Hall's Buccino Leadership Institute doesn’t teach you how to be a leader, it teaches you how to be a great leader."

Elizabeth Szeles ImageElizabeth Szeles came to Seton Hall University from her hometown of Hightstown, New Jersey. She studies Social and Behavioral Sciences in the pursuit of helping others within the medical field. At Seton Hall, Elizabeth was competitively selected to be a part of the Buccino Leadership Institute's College of Arts & Sciences cohort.

During her high school career, Elizabeth was handpicked to be a leader in the Peer Group Connection (PGC) Mentorship Program and elected Co-President of Artists' Union. This was where she first developed a passion for leadership that she continues to pursue today.

At Seton Hall University, Elizabeth is involved in numerous campus activities. Her love of leading and serving others can be seen in her participation within the university's mission trips. These trips include the Appalachia Mission Trip Summer 2021 with the Division of Volunteer Efforts (DOVE) and the Varsity Catholic Puerto Rico Mission Trip Winter 2022 with Campus Ministry's Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS).

Elizabeth chose to attend Seton Hall not only because she has the ability to serve others, but because "every aspect of Seton Hall feels like home," including being a part of the Buccino Leadership Institute. She is surrounded by a community of inspiring leaders that will motivate and teach her how to become a better leader. The leadership institute stood out to her because it is a "unique opportunity" that allows her to learn about leadership in the real world.

Elizabeth chose to be a part of the leadership program because it offers her the ability to form connections, network, serve others as a leader, and grow her leadership skills in a variety of ways. She could not pass on the opportunity to challenge herself from "experience working first-hand with leaders that formulate the award-winning institute." In the Buccino Leadership Institute, Elizabeth is able to build and develop her soft skills by "learning from the best." She is confident that the program at Seton Hall will help her fully prepare and establish all the necessary attributes to be successful in her future.
