Seton Hall Esports Fall 2023 Season Preview
Tuesday, August 29, 2023
Seton Hall University’s Esports program proudly announces its upcoming Fall 2023 season. The Pirates’ proven record of dedication and adaptability will be pivotal for success this season, as the team heads into a period of transition and change.
The Esports program bids a heartfelt farewell to Coach Uti, who mentored the Rocket League team through three seasons of ranking in North America’s Top 32 and guided the team to victory in the first, in-person BIG EAST Championship tournament. Additionally, Seton Hall’s League of Legends is saying farewell to Coach Prism, who served as the team’s first official coach. Coach Prism helped to build the team, mentoring two full rosters through a transitional period and landing the team in the top four of the BIG EAST playoff tournament. The Pirates recognize the contributions made by both coaches and wish them the best in their future endeavors.
League of Legends
Building upon their impressive fourth place finish last season, Seton Hall’s League of Legends seeks continued success in the upcoming fall season. In addition to the departure of Coach Prism, the team has undergone a roster refresh as many of the team’s original members graduated in the spring. Leading the team through the changes this season is Emmit “Sinons Hecate” Fitzgerald, new starting top laner. Garret “YouLackStlye” Belardi and substitute Aidan “RareCandles” Joyce resume their roles in mid-lane, while Daniel “Klariyo” Vargas-Jaramillo steps into the Jungler role. Rounding out the starting lineup in the bot-lane are Rija “Malevoyance” Sabeeh as ADC and Rose “RoseDreamzz” Tramm as Support.
Rocket League
Claiming victory as last season’s BIG EAST champions, the Rocket League team continued their triumphs in the CCA Summer 23 Series. Their dominating performances solidified the team's reputation in the esports community, as they enter the fall season with their sights set on greater achievements. Seton Hall Esports is excited to announce the addition of an exceptional recruit to the Rocket League roster. The new 3rd man, Asif “ItsQuinx” Khan, mirrors the existing roster’s skills, passion and excellence. Returning this season is Kevin “Froze” Minch, who will be taking on the role of Captain, and Paul “Stokelyy” Santoro.
Super Smash Brothers Ultimate
The Super Smash Brothers Ultimate team is eager to welcome incoming freshman, Abraham “CrimsonAbe” Ramos to its roster. As the winner of Seton Hall and StayPluggedIn’s spring recruitment tournament, the promising player has the potential to elevate Seton Hall’s Esports program to unprecedented heights.
