About the conference
G.K. Chesterton was a writer, not a film actor (although he once took part in an eccentric
cinematic adventure with George Bernard Shaw, both playing cowboys). Even so, he would
have been the first to recognize that cinema can be an excellent vehicle for exploring
some of the themes that inspired his work and, indeed, for bringing to life some of
his stories. In this online conversation, Dermot Quinn, editor of The Chesterton Review,
and Jorge Iglesias, its film reviewer, examine some movies that, in their opinion,
exemplify Chesterton's way of looking at the world.

About the speakers
Dr. Jorge Iglesias is Professor of English at Lone Star College. He holds a BA and
an MLA from the University of St. Thomas, as well as a Ph.D. from the University of
Houston. He has taught at Rice University, the University of Houston and Palm Beach
Atlantic University. Since 2018, Dr. Iglesias has been the Film Reviews contributor
to The Chesterton Review.
Dermot Quinn, D.Phil. is Professor of History at Seton Hall University and Editor of The Chesterton Review. He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin and New College, Oxford, where he was awarded a doctorate in 1986. He has written extensively on Chestertonian themes, has authored three books The Irish in New Jersey: Four Centuries of American Life (Rutgers University Press, 2004)(winner, New Jersey Studies Academic Alliance, Non-fiction Book of the Year, 2005); Patronage and Piety: The Politics of English Roman Catholicism, 1850-1900 (Stanford University Press/Macmillan, 1993) and Understanding Northern Ireland (Baseline Books, Manchester, UK, 1993 and many articles and reviews in the field of British and Irish history.
