Master the Art of Teaching the Humanities

The College of Arts and Sciences offers master's degree programs in the humanities for current educators who are looking to enhance their teachings or for those who are pursuing a teaching career.

Master of Arts in English:

Choose from three tracks, or "spokes": 

  1. Literary Studies, ideal for college or secondary school teaching 
  2. Writing, ideal for teaching English at the secondary level 
  3. Creative Writing, ideal for teaching at any level 
  • Teaching assistantships are available 
  • Apply by July 1 for the fall or November 1 for the spring

Master of Arts in Jewish-Christian Studies:

  • Learn to address complex religious, ethical and social issues to promote justice and peace 
  • Choose either the degree (36 credits) or the certificate (12 credits) 
  • Scholarships are available for educators through the Institute of Judeo-Christian Studies and the Sister Rose Thering Fund 
  • Apply by August for the fall and January for the spring
