Third Faculty Retreat: Education and Beauty

How is Wisdom Linked with Beauty?
Directed by Dr. Nancy Enright
February 8,  2017

Nancy Enright, Ph.D."Late have I loved Thee, O Beauty, so ancient and so new!" Augustine expressed his profound gratitude and appreciation for his conversion after many years of essentially avoiding God's call to him.  Once he surrendered to Christ, Augustine began to enjoy the redemption of beauty in his personal life.  Similarly, Dante, also a lover of beauty, experienced its transformation through conversion.  Education, at its best, involves a cultivation of wisdom that allows beauty to be revealed in its true nature, a signpost pointing to God, its Source.  Readings for the retreat will include excerpts from Scripture, Augustine, Dante, Newman, and Ex Corde Ecclesiae

Nancy Enright is an Associate Professor of English and Catholic Studies, and Coordinator of Journey of Transformation. For more information, contact Linda Garofalo or Francia Peterson at (973) 313-6042. Please RSVP to [email protected].
