Wednesday, March 20, 2024
In an innovative blend of technology and art, the Department of Information Technology and Walsh Gallery have launched an immersive 360-degree virtual tour featuring the gallery’s current exhibition, "Contemporary African Spirituality in Art." Developed by Seton Hall’s skilled digital media experts using the cutting-edge virtual tour software, Kuula, users can now experience the awe-inspiring intricacies of the gallery’s interdisciplinary collection from the comfort of their homes. This project aligns with the University’s longstanding commitment to sharing art, culture, and education with a broader audience.
The Walsh Gallery, known for its diverse exhibitions, features an array of artworks ranging from historical pieces to contemporary works. Throughout the immersive 360-degree virtual tour, viewers are encouraged to engage with these vibrant pieces by clicking to access high-resolution representations of the images, complete with attributions to each of the artists.
"The Digital Media Team is excited to offer this virtual tour to gallery viewers online," said Chris Petruzzi, manager of user interface and multimedia design. "This initiative reflects our dedication to integrating technology with education and culture, making art more accessible to everyone, regardless of their location."
The collaboration between the Department of Information Technology and the Walsh Gallery underscores Seton Hall's commitment to leveraging technology to enrich educational and cultural experiences. This and future interactive virtual tours not only broaden the reach of the gallery's collections but also demonstrate the potential of digital innovations in promoting art and culture. The virtual tour is now available online and will remain accessible even after the exhibition concludes on May 20, 2024.
