Seton Hall Laptop Password Sync Update

Seton Hall issued laptops periodically sync with the IT systems on campus via the ‘campus’ WiFi. This sync allows the laptops to print seamlessly, download updates, and keep your password up to date.

The sync has not been possible for students, faculty, and staff who have not visited campus since their last password change. As a result, when changing your password in PirateNet the sync to your laptop will not take place.

After you change your password in PirateNet, you will continue to use your old password when signing in to your Seton Hall laptop. The new password will work on PirateNet, Outlook, and other cloud based services. The laptop will sync your new password the next time you are on campus and connect to the ‘campus’ WiFi.

Who is affected: Students, faculty, or staff who use a Seton Hall issued laptop and have not visited campus since their last password change.

What is affected: When changing your password in PirateNet, the new password will not sync with your laptop. In order to log in to the computer, the original password must be used. The new password will only work on PirateNet, Outlook, and other cloud based services.

How to fix: Use the old password to sign in to the laptop. Use the new password for any services, like Outlook or PirateNet. The laptop will automatically sync the new password the next time it connects to the ‘campus’ WiFi.
