CASE ASAP

Countdown to CASE 2017!

This August, the Student Alumni Association will be traveling to Columbus, Ohio to co-host this year's CASE ASAP Convention! Our members are so excited to attend, and to prepare for this year, our members look back fondly from the memories they made last year! Check out all the excitement from last year's convention!

Student Alumni Association at CNNLast year's CASE ASAP Conference was in Atlanta, GA. As a new SAA member, I was fortunate enough to be selected to attend the national conference with the presenting students. The venue was an awesome hotel connected to CNN headquarters in downtown Atlanta. Every day we attended sessions on a variety of advancement and engagement topics. One session I particularly enjoyed was on how to develop a Traditions app to better connect students to their university.

CASE ASAP gave me the opportunity to meet and interact with students from across North America. I learned about student engagement, event planning, organization branding, and networking with alumni. Most importantly, I grew closer to my fellow SAA peers, who are now my best friends. This year in Columbus, I'm looking forward to traveling with my SAA friends and bonding with them. I'm also excited to attend interesting and immensely informative sessions. CASE ASAP is an incredible conference, and my hope is that every SAA member can experience it.

As the members of SAStudent Alumni Association Case Conference for Student Advancement in 2016A reach forward into the summer, there are a lot of exciting events and projects we continue to work on. For me, as the CASE ASAP Team Leader, the most exciting time of the year is yet to come.

In August, a group of 16 SAA members will travel to Columbus, Ohio for the CASE ASAP National Network Convention. This year, however, instead of simply attending the convention, Seton Hall’s SAA has been selected to co-host the conference, a huge honor and commendation of our ongoing efforts as an organization.

Since early September, a group of 13 students and myself have been working to arrange keynote speakers, themes, community service projects, social activities, marketing techniques, and scholarship recipients. It has been a rewarding year with a great team, and we are all very excited to see it come to life in just a few months.

While at the conference, all members of our team will act as hosts, getting to know our co-hosts from The Ohio State University, and introducing students from around the country for their presentations. A select group of SHU SAA members will also be presenting on our recent success, hosting the most impactful True Blue Month yet.

I am so proud of all the work my team has done throughout the year, and of the impact we have made on this conference. I, personally, have learned so much through this experience working with a team over such a long period of time and over a very long distance.

Attending last year's CASE ASAP Network Convention as a new member of SAA, inspired me to be a committed and involved member of SAA and SAC throughout this past year. I look forward to the experiences and ideas that our SAA will bring back from this year's convention.

The Seton Hall Student Alumni Association is a proud member of CASE Affiliated Student Advancement Programs, an international network of college and university student advancement organizations.

Each year, members of SAA take an active role with CASE ASAP by presenting at conferences, volunteering for committees and planning related programming.

More About CASE ASAPStudent Alumni Association Case Conference

CASE ASAP comprises student alumni associations, student foundations and similar organizations at more than 300 CASE member institutions. Its goal is to foster and enhance student involvement in all areas of advancement—from alumni relations and communications to fundraising, marketing and related areas.

CASE ASAP also supports the advancement profession by alerting students and their advisers of advancement opportunities, resources and career paths.

The first student alumni association was established at Indiana University in the late 1940s. Formal organization of a national program occurred in 1973 at the University of Minnesota where 300 students representing 67 institutions voted unanimously to establish the Student Alumni Association/Student Foundation Network.

In 1992, the SAA/SF Network formally became a part of CASE. The SAA/SF Network changed its name to the Association of Student Advancement Programs in 2000. In 2008, with the goal of clarifying the program, strengthening its connection to CASE and better aligning its mission with CASE’s strategic initiatives, the ASAP Program changed its name to CASE Affiliated Student Advancement Programs (CASE ASAP).
