Mission Statement

The Seton Hall University Master of Public Administration program cultivates and supports servant-leaders in public service and policy making by providing knowledge of theory and practice to become ethical managers, critical thinkers, analytical problem solvers, and inclusive agents of social change in decision-making.

Student Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcomes & Assessment1.Student understanding of public service competencies.
a.) As demonstrated by mastery of skills and knowledge represented in the universal competencies.

2. Student satisfaction with the Seton Hall University MPA experience.
a) As demonstrated by student satisfaction surveys and focus groups and employed in fields where they can impact public service.
b.) Measured by ≥85% of students rating overall program satisfaction as “Agree” or “Strongly Agree” on annual surveys, supplemented by thematic analysis of annual student focus groups.
c.)Measured by ≥75% of graduates employed within 6 months in public service, nonprofit, or related sectors, verified through alumni surveys and LinkedIn/employment tracking.

3. Interdisciplinary and impactful connected by public service experience.
a.) Measured by faculty scholarly output and applied impact, including ≥1 peer-reviewed publication, policy contribution, or community-engaged project per core faculty annually, documented in annual faculty activity reports.

4. Engagement with the greater community to provide service.
a.) Measured by student completion of practicum/internship experiences with documented community impact, evaluated using standardized supervisor rubrics (target: ≥85% meeting or exceeding competency benchmarks).
b.) Measured by number and quality of community partnerships and service activities (e.g., advisory board engagement, community-based projects), with annual review of partner feedback indicating ≥80% satisfaction with program collaboration.
