The Gerald P. Buccino ("Buccino") Scholarship was established in 1996 in the Leadership Studies Program of the Stillman School of Business. Each year, a member of the first-year class is selected as a Buccino Scholar. The scholar receives a four-year scholarship and, most importantly, the one-on-one coaching and mentoring from Jerry Buccino and the Buccino Scholar Family. With this transition, the Buccino Scholarship is now awarded to one member of the Buccino Leadership Institute first-year class.

This Scholarship is testimony to Jerry Buccino’s love and passion for student leadership growth and development, it is an opportunity to give back and serve; share his learnings to help people who need, value, take advantage of and benefit from a rich coaching and mentoring relationship to achieve their greatest potential and be highly successful in their professional and personal lives.

Each year, one Freshman from the Buccino Leadership Institute is selected to become the Buccino Scholar. This highly coveted reward comes with one-on-one mentoring with Jerry Buccino.

Eligibility Requirements

1. Buccino Leadership Institute 1st year student in good standing

2. A GPA of 3.75 or higher

Selections based on:

3. Leadership Instructors’ assessment of engagement in and contributions to the leadership program

4. Evaluation of the student’s:

    1. Integrity & Trust
    2. Respect for Others
    3. Accountability and Responsibility
    4. Learning Mindset
    5. Communications
    6. Engagement
    7. Servant Leadership

Application Procedures

Nomination: 
Each year, at the end of the Fall semester, the Institute selects 5-10 students to be considered for this highly coveted award. 

The selected candidates are required to submit their resume and a 150-word essay on the topic: “Why should I be the next Buccino Scholar?” by mid-January of the Spring Semester. 

Interview: During the first Friday of February, or soon thereafter, a selection committee meets with the finalist candidates and makes the final selection for the Buccino Scholar. 

Renewal Procedures

Renewable, contingent upon maintaining a GPA of 3.75, demonstrating servant leadership, and exhibiting high standards of behavior and ethics required for continued enrollment in the Buccino Leadership Institute.
