As a co-convener of the Perils and Possibilities of Diversity in Education Initiative (along with the Center for the Study of Genocide and Human Rights at Rutgers University) I invited and worked with Seton Hall students while editing a special edition of The Humanist.

With a colleague from the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University in Ukraine, I co-founded, and co-edited two editions of a new e-zine: The Young Scientists Grinchenko Seton International Journal. The first edition featured articles from six Seton Hall students, the second edition included five (including three alums). The launch of the e-zine took place at an international conference hosted by the Ukrainian university. The session took place on March 31.

A seminar panel discussion was held for all second-year students in the Secondary Education program. There were four panelists from Seton Hall, three from the Secondary Education Program, one from the Elementary Education program.

A high school student and a member of the Education Committee for the New Jersey Coalition Against Human Trafficking shared her experiences as a modern-day abolitionist. In the session the class was presented with information about the nature and extent of Human Trafficking (locally and globally). She shared were own website and described efforts in this area by high school students in New Jersey can across the country https://www.safernj.org/ . The session was presented in part as a response to recent additions to State rules that were approved in April 2019- see Schools must provide awareness of child trafficking.

A second Holocaust Remembrance event was conducted. Presenters from last Spring were invited once again. Dean Maureen Gillette welcomed the participants, and Survivor Fran Malkin was joined by a Secondary Education student who shared her grandfather’s experience as a Survivor.
