Bonnie Sturm, Ed.D, R.N.

Dr. Sturm is the Program Director for the Ph.D. in Nursing and is an active Chair and Member on multiple Dissertation Committees. Dr. Sturm has extensive teaching experience, having taught across all programs since coming to Seton Hall in 2004 and was awarded Tenure August 2010. Previous to coming to SHU, she was a tenured faculty member of 8 years at Dominican College. At SHU Dr. Sturm currently teaches Ethical Issues in Healthcare at both Master’s and PhD levels, as well as Dissertation Colloquium & Seminar and Qualitative Design/Analysis. Areas of specialization include Psychiatric Nursing, Nursing Education, and Ethical Issues in Healthcare. Her Research Experiences include Quantitative and Qualitative Design & Methods with a particular passion for Qualitative Design and Analysis. Previous to taking on an academic role, Dr. Sturm practiced Nursing for greater than 20 years in varied settings including: Hospital, Hospice, Community and Psychiatric Nursing. Dr. Sturm’s initial Doctoral Dissertation Research focused on Ethical Issues in Psychiatric Community Health Nursing. She currently conducts research involving ethical Issues in nursing, the ethical imperative of spiritual care, and the concept of Dignity. She is committed to compassionate and intelligent nursing scholarship, care, and practice.
