The Voyage Continues

  1. Move In: Check-in tables will be located at the front of your assigned residence hall. To ensure a speedy check-in process it is best to arrive early. Welcome Crew will not be present to assist with moving your items. We suggest bringing helping hands to ensure a speedy move in.

  2. Bring your own moving materials and items to make the transition as smooth as possible with items such as tools, hand trucks, and dollies.

The Department of Residence Life has a limited number of hand trucks which students are welcome to use. We highly recommend our students bring their own hand trucks to help with the moving process.

Keep in mind that the various residence halls each have their own character and different styles of furniture. Click here to see ideas on how to maximize space regardless of which residence hall you will call home.

  3. Not all residence halls have elevators prior to arriving, please be sure to plan ahead.

Serra and Neumann do not have elevators.
The Turrell manor elevator is smaller than a standard elevator.
Upper class move in is on a first come first serve basis. Keep in mind that elevators will be in high demand.

  4. One of the benefits of Seton Hall residence halls is the variety of room furniture setup options.

When you get to your room make sure you talk to your roommate about the way the furniture is set up. We welcome you and your roommate to set up your ideal furniture placement.  One rule we do have is that all furniture must remain in the room and cannot be swapped out with other types of furniture. Please take caution when moving furniture; be advised that damage to furniture will result in damage billing.  We recommend using helping hands to achieve your desired furniture layout.

  5. During your time in the Residence Halls it is important for you to be aware of fire safety rules. Before heading to the store for last minute shopping make sure you refresh your memory on what is permitted inside the residence halls.

  6. To assist in creating a positive living environment fill out your Roommate Agreement as soon as you can with your Resident Assistant.

Your Resident Assistant will talk to you during your first floor meeting about filling out your Roommate Agreement. We highly recommend that you fill this out with your roommate and suitemates where applicable.

  7. As an upperclassman, it is crucial that you are aware of the Student Code of Conduct. Review the information prior to the start of the academic year.

As an upperclass student we understand that you have successfully navigated the residence halls before but we feel a refresher in our Golden Rules to Being a Great Roommate can help you start the new school year off on the right foot.

8. Make sure you are an active part of your residence hall community. Below are a few ways you can get involved in your residence hall.

  • Make sure you attend all mandatory floor meetings
  • Join Hall Council
  • Become a Floor Representative
  • Attend Your Resident Assistant’s programs

Welcome back to Seton Hall Residence Life, we are excited to have you and are looking forward to another great year!
