Equity, Influence and the Next Generation in Sports

Presented by the Center for Sports Media within the College of Human Development Culture and Media, this event features sports icon and equality champion Billie Jean King and sports industry leader Ilana Kloss.

Sports icon and equality champion Billie Jean King has been one of the driving forces behind equity for women in sports and beyond. As a catalyst to start a professional tour for women’s tennis in the early 1970s, and now with her partner and and sports industry Ilana Kloss, King finds economic opportunities for women in sports and challenges corporations and leagues to commit sponsorship funds equally.

In “Equity, Influence and the Next Generation in Sports,” King and Kloss will discuss future prospects in this space, including how name image and likeness might impact athletes, and their own use of a platform and resources to lead in the area of generational change.
