Club Gives Rise to Developing Women Leaders

Business-minded women of all majors and backgrounds are welcome to join Women in Business (WIB), a goal-oriented organization at Seton Hall. The objective of this club is to provide tools that will help future leaders to learn, grow, and thrive in their upcoming career paths.

Current campus WIB president, Emilia Jastrzebski, says, "We make every effort to prepare women for excellence and equality through peer and senior mentorship." Professional development opportunities are offered on a regular basis through an array of panel discussions, speed networking events, workshops, boot camps and social events.

Recent Successful Events:
"We hosted discussions in Fall 2020," Jastrzebski continues, "with Bloomberg Chief Equity Strategist, Gina Martin Adams, on ‘How to Create Your Own Wealth.'" Another topic covered in a virtual discussion was "Advocating for Yourself in the Workplace," presented by best-selling author and Columbia University adjunct professor, Lee Miller. Additionally, members can actively participate in mock interviews to help them build their resumes and prepare for interviews.

Collaboration with Other Organizations:
During Spring 2021, Jastrzebski discloses a planned event for the organization's annual Boot Camp. "Through the Boot Camp," she says, "we help our members gain critical skills and networking opportunities through case studies, team-building exercises, and by inviting various diverse and distinguished guest speakers." Stay tuned for forthcoming registration information to be announced.

Jastrzebski shares other activities WIB provides. "We have had the opportunity to team up with Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute, Uplift SHU, Hall Street Fund, the Collegiate Panhellenic Council, and Women in Diplomacy," she adds. "In addition, we have collaborated with off-campus organizations such as Rutgers Women in Business and She Leads Media."

Experienced Advisor Support:
Seton Hall advisor to WIB, Dr. Pamela Adams, Associate Professor, Department of Management at Stillman School of Business, elaborates, "I am very happy to support the Women in Business organization." Adams believes that women from all disciplines will seek careers more often in the future that will require business skills of some kind. "This organization [WIB]" she continues, "is there to support the choices that women make at the University and to help them prepare themselves for careers that will benefit from critical business knowledge."
