The NJCBAA Honor Society Names Eight Stillman Students.
The New Jersey Colleges of Business Administration Association (NJCBAA) has been a
recognized statewide organization, since 2003, that includes partnerships between
the two- and four-year business schools in New Jersey. The organization annually extends
invitations to the top 1% of students pursuing degrees in business to recognize them
for their achievements. Each Spring, they are inducted into the NJCBAA Honor Society.
The annual Honor Society induction has traditionally been held in the New Jersey State
House, in Trenton, where the inductees from colleges and universities across the State
sit in the seats reserved for district senators and representatives, as they await
their names to be called to receive their honors. The prestigious environment of this
legislative space located beneath the iconic gold dome, is at once awesome and inspiring.
Not surprisingly, the Spring 2020 event was canceled due to the global pandemic. However,
with or without a ceremony, eight remarkable Stillman students, the "one-percenters,"
deserve to be revered:
Steven Catudal (senior, graduated December 2019): Steven Catudal received his Bachelor of Science
in Business Administration in finance and management information systems. Steven is
a member of the Stillman School's Gerald P. Buccino '63 Center for Leadership Development;
he received a certificate in leadership for completion of the four-year program. As
a member of the SHU soccer team, Steven was named sophomore, junior, and senior student-athlete
of the year. From September 2017 to July 2019, he developed a project called Sprouts
Investments and Analytics. "My partner and I created a web platform that allows for
easy and smart cryptocurrency portfolio investment and research," he says. This project
garnered him recognition as a Seton Hall Start-Up competition finalist in 2019. Steven
now works as a management consultant for Oliver Wyman in New York City, where he has
exposure to senior executives and works side by side with diverse intellectuals to
craft and implement creative solutions to unique client problems in the fintech and
banking industry.
Justin M. Cunha (junior, will graduate December 2021): Justin Cunha is seeking a Bachelor of Arts
in accounting and his Master of Science in Professional Accounting in December 2021.
In addition to numerous retail positions, is a member of the Student Accounting Club
and Beta Alpha Psi, which tutors other accounting students, and he has volunteered
in several SHU D.O.V.E. events. Some of Justin's awards include a Mathematics Award
and the induction into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor society. He says, "My planned internship
with PwC for the upcoming summer months was postponed due to the pandemic." He is
taking summer classes to prepare for a lighter course load in the future.
Gary DeOliveira (senior, graduated May 2020): Gary DeOliveira received his Bachelor of Science in
Business Administration with a major in finance, and he plans to start his new job
at the end of June as a customer development representative for Power Home Remodeling,
in Edison, NJ. Most recently, Gary served as a finance intern with Bluetrack, Inc.,
where he performed industry research and completed special projects in production
and supply chain management. Gary volunteered for two years as a coach at the Hitmen
Baseball Club, in Cedar Grove, NJ. "My family is filled with avid [Mets] baseball
fans," he reveals. "I am hoping to continue volunteering as a baseball coach if my
schedule permits."
Adriana N. Di Dio (junior, will graduate May 2021): Adriana Di Dio plans to graduate in May 2021 with
her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in accounting and finance, as well
as her Master of Science in Professional Accounting (M.S.P.A.). She volunteered with
The Stillman Exchange newspaper and wrote articles covering current events and national news. Last summer
Adriana interned as a ticket and customer service manager with QuickChek New Jersey
Festival of Ballooning. Her upcoming summer plans include a digital "internship."
As Adriana explains it, "I was supposed to have an internship with PwC this summer,
but [the pandemic] turned it into a two-week digital experience." She looks forward
to gaining real-world experience through an accounting internship.
Anniek Jansen (senior, graduated Many 2020): An international student athlete from the Netherlands,
Anniek Jansen graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in IT management
and mathematical finance. She played on the SHU Women's Tennis Team, where she trained
and practiced an average of 25 hours per week, and she served as research assistant
for Professor Penina Orenstein's (Department of Computing and Decision Sciences) research
in supply chain network structures. Regarding her future plans, Anniek says, "I am
planning on going to graduate school [at VU University-Amsterdam] to pursue a master's
degree in computing sciences."
Alex D. Medina Sosa (senior, graduated May 2020): Alex Medina Sosa is an international student from Peru
who received his Bachelor of Science in finance and economics. His background includes
internships with Napier Park Global Capital, Consult Your Community, and United Way.
Alex served as chief of staff for the ALPFA Seton Hall chapter, and treasurer of the
Student Transfer Association. He has an array of interests, including traveling, tutoring
for The ARC, and day trading. Alex shares two fun facts: "I played chess for the Peru
National Team, and before the pandemic, I was prepping to compete in bodybuilding."
Ron J. Richards (senior, graduating in May 2021): Ron Richards, a finance major, is planning to graduate
with a Bachelor of Science next year. He currently works as an inventory team member
at Stryker Corporation and has his sights set on either continuing his growth with
Stryker, or eventually seeking a position with an international investment banking
company. According to Ron, his mother inspires him to keep learning and be the best
he can be. "She works very hard for our family," he claims, "and she sacrificed a
lot for her family to see a better future." It appears Ron has achieved, and will
continue to achieve, that noteworthy goal.
Julian A. Toledo (senior, graduated May 2020): Julian Toledo received his Bachelor of Science in marketing
and entrepreneurship. He worked as a technical director and floor manager at Seton
Hall Pirate Television for two years. Last summer, Julian served as a marketing intern
at eShopWorld, a global eCommerce platform for brands and retailers. Employing his
double concentrations, Julian shares his plans: "I aspire to either work as a marketing/data
insights specialist in the food industry, or I would like to start up my own health
food product company. In fact," he explains, "I have already prepared a formal business
plan for my future food venture!"
