Sports Communications

The Sports Communications Certificate at Seton Hall University prepares students to communicate effectively in the fast-growing sports industry. This 12-credit undergraduate certificate introduces the core principles of sports communication while providing opportunities for hands-on experience covering sporting events and producing media content.

Students explore how storytelling, journalism, public relations and digital media shape the sports landscape. Through coursework and experiential learning connected to the Center for Sports Media, students develop skills in content creation, reporting, branding, and communication strategy across multiple platforms.

Open to students from any major, the certificate complements a wide range of academic programs and provides a practical credential that enhances career opportunities in sports media, communications and related industries.

Curriculum

The Sports Communications Undergraduate Certificate requires 12 credits and combines foundational coursework with hands-on experience.

Required Courses (6 credits):

  • Introduction to Sports Communications
  • Sports Communications Fieldwork

Students also complete two elective courses from different subject areas, allowing them to tailor the certificate to interests such as media production, journalism, public relations, design or broadcasting.
