Seton Hall Hosts Garden State Esports Showdown

On March 25, 2025, Seton Hall University proudly hosted the second matchday of the Garden State Esports (GSE) Spring Collegiate Circuit, welcoming players, coaches, and fans from across New Jersey to campus for an electrifying celebration of esports. The event brought together top collegiate talent for a full slate of North Conference matches in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Crews and Overwatch 2, highlighting the growing impact of collegiate esports across the state.

The lineup featured collegiate teams from NJIT, Kean University, Stevens Institute of Technology, Brookdale Community College, and NJCU, all battling for their place in the standings. With six full rounds of matches and games running simultaneously, Seton Hall Esports rose to the challenge by powering two live Twitch broadcasts, showcasing both titles in real time.

Overwatch 2 - North Conference Results

The Overwatch 2 bracket delivered high-energy gameplay and a series of nail-biting finishes, as NJIT emerged as the dominant force of the day, securing three key victories over Stevens Institute of Technology, Seton Hall University, and Brookdale Community College.

Seton Hall concluded the day with a hard-fought win over Stevens, finishing 1–2 in the Overwatch 2 bracket. Despite the early setbacks, the Pirates demonstrated resilience and teamwork, setting the stage for continued growth in the season ahead.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Crews - North Conference Results

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Crews bracket delivered non-stop excitement as teams showcased their skills in a series of fast-paced and competitive matches. NJCU emerged as the day’s top performer, going undefeated with three match victories.

After a tough opening loss, Seton Hall rebounded with back-to-back wins over Stevens and NJIT, finishing the day with a strong 2–1 record. The Pirates’ performance demonstrated depth, determination, and growing momentum in the Super Smash Bros. competitive scene.

Seton Hall University was proud to serve as a host site for the Garden State Esports (GSE) Spring Collegiate Circuit, reinforcing its commitment to advancing esports in higher education. Garden State Esports, a recognized leader in high school-to-college esports development, continues to champion pathways that connect emerging talent with established collegiate programs across New Jersey.

In addition to a full day of competition, Seton Hall Esports hosted open tryouts, providing prospective student-athletes an opportunity to showcase their skills. As part of the University’s ongoing investment in esports, one standout Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player has been awarded a scholarship to join the varsity roster.
