Science and Faith: Exploring the Relationship

Professional Development for Catholic School Teachers

Friday, November 15, 2024
8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Bethany Hall, Seton Hall University

About the Event

This Professional Development Day equips Catholic educators to be competent and effective communicators of the complementarity of faith and reason, science and religion.

Catholic Tradition holds that God, in His infinite love, created all things. Not only can His Creation point to the deeper realities of life but can help us in our quest to understand the mysteries of our faith. This quest, this journey to know and understand is not exclusively for academics.

Young people are very much on their own journey of coming to know who they are, what they were created for, and Who created them. Accompanying them on this journey are first and foremost, their parents and families, but also their teachers. Catholic school teachers play a vital role in the lives of our children.

This is why we aim to help equip our Catholic school teachers with both knowledge and creativity in the delicate balance between areas of tension, questions, and truth. This professional development program focuses on areas where dialogue between religion and science can be fruitful for teachers and, consequently, their students.
