Social media, when managed well, gives us the ability to distribute a message to your audience in a quick, targeted and efficient manner. Whether you are part of a large organization or a team of one, understanding the various social media platforms, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of your social media team, and creating realistic goals are the core of any strategic plan. Social media allows you to build relationships with followers that would have been impossible even a short time ago. Our workshop will help you manage, maintain and leverage these relationships to meet your goals and objectives.
This session will focus on understanding the various social media platforms and, more importantly, will help you understand which to use and when it’s best to use them. We’ll identify best practices for your personal and professional accounts then discuss how to make things go well and what to do if things go wrong. We will spend time analyzing the current social media landscape and discuss strategies to get your message out to people professionally. Finally, we’ll work through creating goals and review the basic data and metrics used to ensure you are getting the expected results.

Creating engaging content for social media is critical for reaching your target audience. Whether you are a skilled writer, or someone who has always struggled, social media platforms require new ways of communicating your message. From hashtags to the use of images and videos, there is more to writing for the web than just text. Each platform has its own style, and to compete with those adorable Internet kittens, you must understand how to engage your audience on each one.
This workshop will introduce participants to key concepts in writing for the web including crafting concise, creative and informative text. The use of hashtags, images, video and hyperlinks will also be addressed in order to design social media posts that make audiences take notice. Hands-on activities include the creation of social media posts for popular networks including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
