The Graduate Certificate in Finance offers anyone with an undergraduate degree from a four-year institution the opportunity to enhance their ability to make financial decisions anchored in corporate and investments/portfolio analysis, the core areas of the disciplined, and supplemented by six hours of certificate electives. The certificate is focused on fundamental finance issues: how to identify key components and apply analytical techniques to attain company and personal financial goals. 

 

Curriculum

The Graduate Certificate in Finance is comprised of 12 credits. The Certificate is anchored in two indispensable areas of the discipline, Corporate Finance and Investments, with an emphasis on "transforming concepts into practice." 

I. Required Courses (4 Credits): 
  • The Role of Quantitative Analysis in Business Decision Making 2 (BMBA 9455)
  • Financial Decision Making 2 (BMBA 9460)
II. Required Courses (6 Credits):
  • Portfolio Analysis (BFIN 7230) 
  • Corporate Finance (BFIN 7236) 
III. Elective Courses (6 Credits):

Two BFIN electives from the following: 

  • Financial Statement Analysis (BFIN 7106)
  • International Finance (BFIN 7216)
  • Risk Management (BFIN 7221)
  • Mergers and Acquisitions (BFIN 7225)
  • Futures, Options and Swaps (BFIN 7231)
  • Fixed Income Analysis (BFIN 7245)
  • Financial Modeling (BFIN 7255)  
  • Capital & Money Markets (BFIN 7215)
  • International Finance (BFIN 7216)
  • Real Estate Finance (BFIN 7228)

Optional: Finance Pre-Qualifier (BMBA 8013) for students who have either no finance background or who feel they need to invigorate their finance backgrounds.
