Education Specialist (Ed.S.)

School Psychology

* To be eligible for admission, interested students must first complete Seton Hall University’s M.A. in Psychological Studies with a concentration in School Psychology.

The School Psychology Ed.S. program provides students with professional and academic training to address the individual, contextual, and systemic needs of children and adolescents as well as those who nurture and support them. The National Association of School Psychologists Domains of School Psychology Training and Practice also guides the students' professional development and practicum/internship experiences.

The Program

Upon successful completion of the College’s master's-level program, prospective students are required to apply for admission to the 29-credit program leading to the Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree. The Ed.S. program includes a pre-internship (practicum) field experience of 300 hours as well as an internship of 1200 hours.

Candidates who have completed all credits (65 total) in both the M.A. and Ed.S. programs are eligible to apply for certification by the New Jersey Department of Education as a school psychologist. This certification is applicable only for school settings and does not provide a license leading to private practice.

Admissions Requirements 

  • Completion of Seton Hall M.A. Psychological Studies with Concentration in School Psychology with a 3.25 minimum cumulative GPA
  • Online application
  • Official transcripts from all institutions attended
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation, preferably from full-time faculty at the University
  • Statement of career goals
  • Interview with the Admissions Committee
