NJSHA's Interprofessional Autism Conference (IPAC)

This event, sponsored by the New Jersey Speech-Language-Hearing Association, brings together distinguished professionals from different disciplines to share their interprofessional collaborative efforts in implementing evidence-based interventions and approaches when working with individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The full-day conference welcomes all members of the treatment team to learn how to effectively develop collaborative intervention plans and strategies for individuals diagnosed with ASD and their families. Participants will also hear about the latest evidence-based intervention and instructional strategies.

Kathleen Selvaggi Fadden, MD
The Latest in Autism Research: Why an Interprofessional Approach is a Must

Kathleen Selvaggi Fadden, M.D., graduated from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1983. She works in Morristown, NJ and specializes in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities. Dr. Selvaggi Fadden is affiliated with Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center and the Child Development and Autism Center at Goryeb Children’s Hospital.

Tracie Lindblad, MSc, Reg. SLP (CASLPO), MEd, BCBA
Core Competencies for Effective Interprofessional Practice: Implementation Utilizing an Organizational Behavioral Systems Approach

Tracie Lindblad is a speech-language pathologist (SLP) and board certified behavior analyst (BCBA) with 30 years' experience working with children, youth and adults with developmental disabilities. She completed her undergraduate degree with a specialist in psychology and a minor in linguistics from the University of Toronto in 1983. She attended the University of British Columbia for her master of science degree in speech-language pathology (1985) and later attended Brock University where she completed a master of education in curriculum in 1992. She received her BCBA designation in 2010 and is part of a small group of approximately 265 dually-credentialed SLP-BCBAs in the world. Lindblad was also the founder and president of Four Points (1997), a private centre providing intensive Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapy to children with ASD.

Lori Frost, MS, CCC-SLP
Functional Communication Across the Day: Practical Applications of PECS

Lori Frost is a speech/language pathologist and co-founder of Pyramid Educational Consultants, Inc. She is co-author of the PECS® Training Manual, 2nd Edition, A Picture's Worth: PECS® and Other Visual Communication Strategies in Autism, 2nd Edition and Autism 24/7. Frost has taught international workshops and graduate courses on Communication intervention in ASD, PECS®, Verbal Behavior and Functional Communication Training and consults to schools and families to create effective and functional communication training protocols. She is co-creator of PECS®, a unique system that allows learners with limited communication abilities to initiate communication with teachers, parents, and peers.
