Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS)

The Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) is an intensive, 21 credit blended program intended for candidates seeking teacher certification. The initial CEAS certificate provides the foundation for further study in areas such as Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, and Instructional Design and Technology

The Program

The program is a year in length and combines online course learning, field experience and a culminating Clinical Practice. Candidates receive individual advisement throughout the program and upon completion will be qualified for an Advanced Certificate of Eligibility for the New Jersey Instructional License as an elementary or secondary teacher.

The program is aligned with professional standards:

  • The Association for Childhood Education International
  • The Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium
  • New Jersey Professional Standards

Faculty

The faculty in the College of Education and Human Services are expert researchers and practitioners in teacher and leader preparation as well as professional psychology and family therapy. Many are actively engaged with schools and community agencies, modeling best practices to their students in the university classroom and in the field. Collaboration within departments and across is encouraged with the recognition that supporting and improving the lives of children, families and communities is a complex process.
