SAB Leadership Important Dates 2015-2016:

What is SAB?

The Student Activities Board (SAB) is a volunteer organization that strives for success in a variety of ways but primarily through these common goals: gaining student input, planning and implementing diverse events, becoming recognized leaders, providing students with a connection to campus and having fun. President- Executive Board Position
  • Serves as the primary representative of SAB on any campus wide initiatives
  • Develops the agenda and presides over all SAB meetings
  • Uses assessment to identify priority and needs of the organization
  • Maintains professional contacts on behalf of SAB though email and phone
  • Assists in planning trainings, retreats, workshops, and conferences as necessary
  • Meets regularly with the Executive Board and the Advisors
Vice President- Executive Board Position
  • Assumes the duties of the President in his/her absence
  • Oversees contracts and financial paperwork of SAB
  • Manages the SAB office and supplies
  • Reviews and approves promotional item proposals with advisor
  • Assists in planning trainings, retreats, workshops, and conferences as necessary Meets regularly with the Executive Board and the Advisors
Secretary- Executive Board Position
  • Records minutes of all SAB meetings
  • Sends correspondence to SAB Leadership and General Members
  • Maintains all personnel matters including attendance, rosters, and minutes.
  • Assists in planning trainings, retreats, workshops, and conferences as necessary
  • Meets regularly with the Executive Board and the Advisors
Director of Marketing - Executive Board Position
  • Manages Public Relations of the organization via social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc)
  • Oversees the Marketing Committee and helps organize and plan marketing strategies for the organization. 
  • Assists in planning trainings, retreats, workshops, and conferences as necessary
  • Meets regularly with the executive board and advisors
Street Team Manager - Executive Board Position
  • Create and Manage Street Team (General Member) Loyalty Program
  • Document general member attendance/shift sign ups
  • SAB Member of the Week/Month Management 
  • Plan one Street Team bonding per month
  • Assists in planning trainings, retreats, workshops, and conferences as necessaryMeets regularly with the executive board and the advisors
Committee Chair Positions
  • Attend Leadership meetings, trainings and general board meetings
  • Holds 2 committee office hours per week
  • Recruits for their individual committee
  • Meeting with Advisors as needed
  • Plan, promote and execute campus wide events within committee specialty
  • Attend committee events and support the events of other SAB committees
  • Serve as the liaison between the Executive Board and the committee members

SAB Committees:

Campus Life
The Campus Life Committee is responsible for the selection, planning, coordination, production, and promotion of a wide variety of on- campus events such as: Hypnotists, Skating on the Green, Comedians, and Exam Relaxation Programs.

Cinema
The Cinema Committee is responsible for the selection, planning, coordination, production, and promotion of the free movie series. This is a new committee for the 2013-14 academic year, based on the Free Flick Friday series as a basis.

Coffee House
The Coffee House Committee is responsible for the selection, planning coordination, and promotion of the weekly Coffee House series that takes place every Wednesday night in the Pirate’s Cove. Coffee House events have included: Open Mic, Karaoke, Comedians, Spoken Words Poets, and Magicians.

Concert
The Concert Committee is responsible for the selection, planning, coordination, production, and promotion of large scale concert events as well as smaller-scale musical events such as GrooveBoston, and the J.Cole Concert.

Marketing
The Marketing Committee takes care of all the behind the scenes work that helps make SAB a household name on campus. Through creative advertising, social media, street marketing, and even flash mobs, their job is to bring the excitement of SAB to SHU.

Travel
The Travel Committee is responsible for the selection, planning, coordination, production, and promotion of off-campus trips. Past trips include: Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Nets Game, Yankee Game, and overnight Ski Trip.
