I am interested in questions of language, in a broad sense. My theoretical work focuses on the syntax of interrogative sentences and their responses, paying particular attention to the connection between structure and informational value.

Since joining the faculty at Seton Hall I have devoted much of my time to language teaching methodology and curriculum development. I collaborated for several years with Berlitz International, for whose Spanish program I authored several books. I have also worked with the U.S. Peace Corps to produce the Khmer textbook and instructor manual that they currently use to train their volunteers when they arrive in Cambodia. Also in Cambodia, I am involved in a long-term language revitalization project with the Cham-speaking community, where, besides lecturing on language normalization and contributing to curriculum development, I have taken the role of publisher of books and periodicals in this minority language.

At Seton Hall I teach Spanish at all levels, including Advanced Grammar and Phonetics, and I work with students interested in pursuing studies in general linguistics.
