Dr. Xuefeng (Shepard) Jiang received both his B.S. degree and Ph.D. in Physics from Peking University. Subsequently, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow / research scientist at the University of Oregon, WUSTL, and CUNY.

Dr. Jiang's research primarily focuses on the intersections of devices, physics, and nanophotonics, exploring areas such as integrated photonics, quantum photonics, biochemical sensing, and non-Hermitian physics. Specifically, his research has been focusing on photonic micro/nano resonators and their applications for sensing, lasing, nonlinear optics, and quantum physics.

In these fields, He has published over 30 peer-reviewed research papers in leading scientific journals, such as Science, Nature, Nature Physics, etc., and holds 3 US patents. Additionally, he serves on the editorial board of the journal Scientific Reports since 2020.

Dr. Jiang has mentored over ten undergraduate/graduate students in research projects throughout his time as a PhD, postdoc, research scientist, and assistant professor. Several of his undergraduate mentees have been accepted into distinguished Ph.D. programs at world-renowned institutions, such as Harvard University, Caltech, Northwestern University, and the University of Oxford, among others.
