“I was ready to take my career to the next level, and Seton Hall’s Ph.D. in Nursing program provided the personal academic experience that I was seeking. I enjoyed my weekly, collegial classes with my cohort. The exceptional nursing faculty challenged me and provided me with meaningful feedback on my work. I loved the combination of connectedness and academic excellence! By graduation, I felt well-prepared for both quantitative and qualitative nursing research."

“Seton Hall College of Nursing’s Ph.D. faculty is committed to the success of their students. The rigorous curriculum combined with the faculty's unwavering support throughout the program prepared me to perform my role as a nurse scientist for a regional healthcare system. The College promotes a supportive learning environment with small classes, encouraging connection and scholarly collaboration among students."

"I was aware that several of the major medical centers are led by Seton Hall nursing graduates, which speaks to its ability to grow and support future healthcare leaders. The faculty's strength in both quantitative and qualitative methods and diversity in thought provides students with ample opportunity to develop a research study that improves health or healthcare outcomes. The Ph.D. in Nursing program is uniquely designed to meet the needs of the working health professional, and encourages learning outside of nursing. I have had the opportunity to not only learn from faculty in other departments but also engage in an interdisciplinary learning environment, developing new knowledge along with students from other programs."

" Seton Hall’s College of Nursing is indeed an institution that truly invests in their students. Since I got accepted in 2006 as a graduate student, my career trajectory has been in an upward direction. With flexible classes I could pursue my goal, manage my family obligation with two young children and work fulltime. I enjoyed the writing center support and unwavering guidance from the faculty and even the dean herself. During my doctoral program, as a Jonas Scholar, the College opened up doors for me by providing an opportunity to connect with nursing leaders and mentors nationwide. The recognition that I received made me feel supported. I received the Elizabeth Seton Young Alumni award in 2013 and then Sara Erikson medal at the DNP graduation. My DNP scholarly project, 'Stroke Clinical Order Pathway Education (SCOPE) for APNs,' was presented nationally and internationally. My education has prepared me well so that I can guide and mentor other nurses.”

Varsha Singh, M.S.N. ’09/D.N.P. ’18

“I chose to pursue my D.N.P. at Seton Hall after exploring many prestigious programs around the country. The College of Nursing offered everything I was looking for in a D.N.P. program: an excellent support system built around a small cohort of students, a course of study that included classes that proved useful and relevant to real-world practice as a DNP, and a learning structure that allowed me to continue to work full-time clinically as I added to the knowledge and experience I already had gained throughout my career.”

"What makes Seton Hall’s NP program stand out, according to Megan, is the opportunity for yearly immersions. These sessions are not just a learning platform but a chance to connect with peers and faculty, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment, essential for an online student's success. Megan emphasizes the hands-on experience gained through practicing critical skills such as intubations, central lines, a-lines, lumbar punctures, and chest tubes. This practical knowledge, she believes, gives Seton Hall NP students a distinct advantage in their clinical rotations and future careers. Megan also speaks highly of the faculty's dedication, noting their accessibility, understanding, and unmatched educational support. This kind of mentorship is what we pride ourselves on at Seton Hall, ensuring that each student receives personalized guidance throughout their journey. “For any future NP students looking into furthering their education through Seton Hall, I would highly encourage you to put Seton Hall at the top of your list.”

“Seton Hall afforded me the luxury of attending class in an online format while raising my two children and working full-time. The professors are committed to addressing each student individually to ensure everyone’s learning needs are met. I am thankful that I chose Seton Hall for my graduate education. I feel very prepared to begin my new career as a Nurse Practitioner.”

“I wanted to attend a school where I would have to focus and study toward pursuing my dreams so that when I graduated, I am prepared for my boards,” she said. “Although I had been an intensive care nurse for several years, the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program has really challenged me; this is what I was seeking for my graduate studies. I feel much more knowledgeable than when I started, and I am prepared for when I graduate in the spring. The professors are super supportive, and they understand that we, as students, also have an outside life and events occur where time can be limited.”

Alexandria Constantin, current student

“The Adult Gerontology program fosters a degree of excellence where professors, both didactic and clinical, are invested in your success. There is a strong sense of mentorship that well-prepares each individual to become an invaluable leader in healthcare and the community.”

Brigitte McNamara, M.S.N. ’18

“The AGPCNP program nourished my knowledge and skills to be an effective health provider in the future. I was working a full-time job and looking for an online program to manage my work as an R.N. while studying. This prestigious school was offering online courses, which would give me the freedom to balance my hospital work and school because I'm not tied down to a specific schedule like in a conventional classroom setting; that would have been challenging for me. The online program was challenging, but I know that Seton Hall does not merely produce capable NPs but exceptionally effective and confident ones. The program has allowed me to become very comfortable with assessing and planning the care of patients I manage. Also, diagnosing and treating patients will afford me a more critical purpose in improving my patient's overall health.”

Nikia was drawn by our Seton Hall’s mission which resonated deeply with her own commitment to exceptional leadership and nursing excellence. Speaking of her experience, Nikia shares, “In each stage of my nursing journey, I have learned that our healthcare system needs a new voice, especially for children and families. As a PNP student, Seton Hall is equipping me with that voice — filled with advanced knowledge, respect and culturally competent care.” Her vision for the future is inspiring: Nikia intends to leverage her education to make a tangible impact on the community, establishing mobile health clinics and health programs in underserved communities where disparities and misconceptions about healthcare are widespread. This vision took a significant step forward through her involvement in Seton Hall’s Nurse-led Mobile Training Project, a collaboration between the College of Nursing and the City of Newark. Nikia reflects on this experience as “kismet in my journey in serving underserved communities.”
