 AFCEA Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Teacher Scholarships
  • For sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate studentswho will teach a STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math) subject at a middle or high school after completing their degree. Applicants must be U.S. citizens with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Undergraduate applicants must be full-time; graduate applicants must be enrolled in at least two courses per semester.
  • Award: $5,000. Recipients also become eligible for a $1,000 AFCEA STEM Teaching Tools grant for up to three years if they continue to teach a STEM subject.
Alice L. Haltom Educational Fund
  • The Alice L. Haltom Educational Fund exists for students who are citizens of the U.S., Canada or Mexico and are actively pursuing an education for a career in information and records management.
  • Award: The maximum award for students in an associate degree program is $1,000. The maximum award for a student in a bachelor's or advanced degree program is $2,000.
American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) - Barbara Lotze Scholarships for Future Teachers
  • For undergraduates who are U.S. citizens and studying to become physics teachers.
  • Award: Up to $2,000 a year for up to four years.
Bishop Charles P. Greco Graduate Fellowships
  • For graduate students enrolled in a master's degree program designed for teachers of students with intellectual disabilities. 
  • Award: The maximum amount of the grant is $2,000 payable to student's university in amounts not to exceed $500.00 per semester.

Cultural Ambassadors: North American Language and Culture Assistants in Spain
  • For U.S. and Canadian citizens who are native English or French speakers and have at least an intermediate level of Spanish language ability. Applicants must be current college students or college graduates. Participants work as language and cultural assistants at elementary or secondary schools in Spain to provide support to English or French teachers in language and culture classes, and also have the opportunity to learn about Spanish language and culture.
  • Award: Monthly stipend of 700 euros, paid winter and spring holidays, and benefits. No support for transportation or housing.
Edward G. and Helen A. Borgens Elementary and Secondary Teacher Education Scholarships - Daughters of the American Revolution
  • For U.S. citizens, male or female, studying to teach at the elementary or secondary level. Applicants must be at least 25 years old, a sophomore or higher, and have a minimum 3.5 GPA.
  • Award: $1,500, and potentially renewable for additional years.
James Madison Memorial Fellowship
  • For U.S. citizens and nationals planning to become a teacher of American history, American government, or social studies at the secondary level (grades 7 - 12). Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree or plan to receive a bachelor's degree no later than August 31 of the year in which they are applying, and wait at least three years from the time that any previous graduate degree was awarded before applying. After receiving a master's degree funded through the fellowship, each fellow must teach American history, American government, or social studies in grades 7–12 for one full year for each academic year of funding received under a fellowship, preferably in the state from which the recipient won the fellowship.
  • Award: Up to $24,000 of tuition funding towards an MA, MS, MAT, or MEd degree. (Must be in education, American history, political science, or a closely related subject. See website for more details).
  • Graduating seniors or recent graduates with an interest in becoming an Assistant Language Teacher in Japan.  Must demonstrate excellence in written and spoken English. Some knowledge of Japanese an advantage. For U.S. citizens.
  • Award: Provides a teaching position in Japan for one year and a stipend of 3,600,000 yen.
Journalism Education Association (JEA) - Future Teacher Scholarships
  • For sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students majoring in a program that will prepare them to teach journalism at the high school level. Short essay and recommendation letters required for application.
  • Award: Up to three awards of $1,000 given out annually. 
  • Recent graduates with a record of achievement in a biological or physical science, engineering or mathematics, and a desire to teach high school science and/or mathematics in the U.S. For students who are not yet certified. U.S. citizenship not required.
  • Award: Tuition assistance and a monthly stipend while participating in a recognized teacher education program.  Professional and financial support for up to five years.
  • Recent graduates with at least 18 hours of coursework in mathematics and an interest in teaching mathematics in a secondary school in participating cities.  Must take the ETS Praxis II exam, possess excellent communication skills and be willing to make a 5 year commitment to the MfA program. Minimum GPA: 3.0. For U.S. citizens.
  • Award: Scholarship provides funds to complete a Master's degree, stipends totaling up to $100,000, and a full time teacher's salary. 
  • Graduating seniors and recent graduates who are not education majors, but who want to make a difference by teaching for two years in a critical needs school in the Mississippi Delta. Minimum GPA: 3.0.
  • Award: MTC is based on the Peace Corps model. This two year award includes a full scholarship for an MA in education and a $30,000+ starting salary.
National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) - Prospective Secondary Teacher Course Work Scholarships
  • For sophomores planning to become high school math teachers. Application requires a proposal detailing the applicant's remaining coursework needed to achieve teaching certification, as well as a related budget, and an essay and letter of recommendation.
  • Award: Up to $10,000, with 50% disbursed for junior year and 50% disbursed for senior year.
National Institute for Labor Relations Research - The Applegate / Jackson / Parks Future Teacher Scholarship
  • For all students, undergraduate or graduate, majoring in education at a U.S. institution. Application requires an approximately 500 word essay on the topic of unionism.
  • Award: $1,00
The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program
  • The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, psychology, social work, history, public health, social work, business administration/management, and education (except research-focused STEM education programs). Applicants must be pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees in the U.S. and abroad. Women, minorities, and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
  • Award: Fellows benefit from a three-year annual stipend of $30,000 along with a $10,500 cost of education allowance for tuition and fees, a one-time $1,000 travel allowance and the freedom to conduct their own research at any accredited U.S., or foreign institution of graduate education they choose. Also provides TeraGrid Supercomputer access.
The Rachel Tanur Prize for Visual Sociology
  • For all current students majoring in the social sciences, including anthropology, communication, criminal justice, cultural studies, economics, education, history, political science, psychology, sociology, and social work. Applicants must submit two commentaries, each no more than 4000 characters (~500 words) in length, and one photo. One commentary must be based on one or more of the photos by Rachel Tanur and one must be based on an original photo taken by the applicant. Each commentary is expected to give a sociological analysis of the selected visual material, based on theoretical and applied social science methods. See the page of past winners for examples.
  • Award: 1st prize: $2,500; 2nd prize: $1,500; 3rd prize: $500.
  • Graduating seniors from all majors with at least a 2.5 GPA and an interest in teaching in critical needs schools. Candidates must show evidence of leadership, perseverance, and the ability to motivate others. Must be a U.S. citizen or have national/permanent resident status.
  • Award: Placement as a full-time teacher for two years at full pay.  Includes transition grants and $4,725 educational award at the end of each of the two years of service. 
  • Juniors, seniors, graduates who are at least 20 years old and interested in teaching English in France. Must have studied at least three semesters of French, or  the equivalent.  For U.S. citizens or individuals with Green Cards.
  • Award: 1,500 teaching assistant positions with a monthly stipend of 945 Euros/month.  Teach 12 hours of English conversation per week for 6 to 9 months in a French primary or secondary school, or a French teaching college.

Anthony P. Infante, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
  • For sophomores, juniors, or seniors in the College of Education and Human Services. Applicants must demonstrate their "servant leadership" -  i.e., those character traits which Mr. Infante personified during his lifetime, including courage compassion and a strong commitment to helping others - the primary consideration in selecting recipients - as well as financial need.
  • Award: The award is for one year and the amount is dependent on available funding. May reapply each year of enrollment in which you meet criteria.
Carmella A. Macaluso Endowed Scholarship
  • Open to female undergraduate students who can demonstrate financial need, are pursuing studies in the field of education, and have at least one natural parent of Italian extraction. Must be enrolled full time and have at least one more year of studies to complete;
  • Award: The award is for one year and the amount is dependent on available funding. May reapply each year of enrollment in which you meet criteria. 
  • Open to full-time undergraduate students majoring in education who have at least one more year of studies to complete.

  • Open to full-time juniors majoring in education with a minimum GPA of 3.5.

  • For full-time undergraduates majoring in education who have at least one more year of studies to complete;

  • For full-time undergraduates majoring in education who have at least one more year of studies to complete. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate a commitment to service activities.
