Honoring 28 Years of Innovation and Scholarship

The 28th annual Petersheim Academic Exposition is set to take place from Monday, April 22 – Saturday, April 27, 2024. This academic Expo celebrates the scholastic accomplishments and academic engagement of the entire Seton Hall University community including undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, administrator, and staff from among the various disciplines.

Abstract submissions are now being accepted through Friday, March 29, 2024.

Throughout the week, participants will present their work in research symposia, poster sessions, presentations, panel discussions, theatrical performances, art exhibits, debates, concerts and more.

The Opening Ceremony, which will take place from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, April 22 in Bethany Hall B and C, features a keynote address by Katia Passerini, Ph.D., Interim President, Seton Hall University. Attendees will receive a complimentary lunch on site following the event; however, pre-registration is required.

The Closing Ceremony of Celebration will be held from 3:30 - 5 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, in the McNulty Hall Amphitheater, which will include presentations of Student Travel Awards. At each Expo, these awards offer students a reimbursement stipend that can be used toward the presentation of their research at a regional, national or international conference.  

"The Petersheim Academic Expo illustrates the University's commitment to student and faculty to share, to honor and to unite (Seton Hall University) in their achievement and success as a home for scholars from every field to be able to engage in conversation within and between their disciplines," said Professor Sulie Lin Chang, Petersheim co-chair, Director of the Institute of Neuroimmune Pharmacology and Professor of Biological Sciences.

"The Petersheim Academic Expo is a special gathering of great minds, enabling an entire week where the University community joins together as one community to share all of our gifts, including what our students have learned and how to put these lessons to use on a professional level. The Seton Hall community is brought together in the spirit of servant leadership and what Great Minds can do," added Professor Jose L. Lopez, Department of Physics, Director, Office of Grants and Research Service and event co-chair.

The Expo honors the innovative spirit of its founder, Matthew Petersheim, Ph.D., associate professor of biochemistry, who passed away in 1998.
