B.S. Financial Mathematics/M.S. Financial Engineering

To be successful in today's complex, technology-driven financial industry, financial engineers must possess superior mathematical knowledge that allows them to identify patterns and leverage their technological skills for the betterment of their firms or portfolios.

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, in cooperation with the Finance Department at Stevens Institute of Technology, offers a dual degree program that allows qualified financial mathematics majors to take three courses at Seton Hall that would jumpstart their master's program in financial engineering at Stevens.

With the three courses at Seton Hall, students would be able to complete the other seven courses required for the master’s in one year and would only need to pay for one year of graduate school at Stevens. They then would graduate in five years with a Bachelor of Science in Financial Mathematics from Seton Hall and a Master of Science in Financial Engineering from Stevens.

Curriculum

The accelerated curriculum can be completed in five years to obtain the M.S. in Financial Engineering degree within one additional year at Stevens Institute of Technology, after completing the B.S. in Financial Mathematics at Seton Hall University. During the junior and senior year, students take nine credits of graduate courses from the M.S. in Financial Engineering that count towards their undergraduate requirements.

Program Admission and Continuation

  • Submit the application for the M.S. in Financial Engineering program during the Spring semester of your junior year.
  • Meet the minimum grade of a B in the Seton Hall University transfer courses.
  • Meet the M.S. in Financial Engineering admission requirements with an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0.
