About Seton Hall Theatre

As a co-curricular activity of the College of Human Development, Culture, and Media's B.A. in Theatre program, Seton Hall Theatre offers a wide variety of theatrical opportunities for students including the four annual faculty and guest directed main-stage productions, as well as student productions produced by the Theatre Council.

The Seton Hall Theatre performs in two locations, at the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) and on-campus in the University Theatre, a recently renovated 200+ seat performance space in the Bishop Dougherty University Center.

The South Orange Performing Arts Center  (SOPAC) space boasts a 415 seat proscenium space. Conveniently located in the heart of the Village of South Orange, SOPAC provides a performance outreach to the South Orange community.

Faculty and guest directed main-stage productions: All University students are invited to audition for Seton Hall Theatre's main-stage productions which are chosen and directed by College of Human Development, Culture, and Media faculty members. Any student regardless of major can volunteer to help backstage and in the scene shop. Several work-study positions are available.

The Theatre Council, a student organization within the College, produces student-directed shows submitted by Council members. Working with their faculty advisor from the College, the Theatre Council stages full length shows, one-acts, radio dramas, improv performances as well as the University Day children's production. The Theatre Council is open to all University students.

Seton Hall Theatre has a rich and distinguished history led by the artistic direction of the College's Theatre faculty. In addition, professional actors such as Tony award winner Anna Manahan, Tony award winner Crystal Dickinson, Irish professional actors, accomplished alumni and Seton Hall students have all shared their talents with the Seton Hall community for over 45 years!
