Spectre and Meltdown Exploits  

A person typing on a laptop with a lock in their hand. The Department of Information Technology is working with our technology partners to address the Spectre and Meltdown exploits reported in the news over the last few days.

Microsoft has released a patch that will be delivered in your normal update cycle for your laptop. Please run the Windows update service immediately and apply all patches and fixes that are available. This may require a reboot of your computer.

Lenovo has also released a fix for this exploit and is being delivered via the Lenovo System Update tool on your laptop. Please run and apply all fixes and patches supplied by this tool as well. This may require an update to your Lenovo Drivers. Additionally, your laptop's BIOS, the part of the laptop which allows it to boot up and load Windows, may also require an update. If this is the case, the update instructions provided below must be followed accurately to avoid damage to your computer.
