Space154 (a hands-on collaborative place where faculty, students, and administrators can come to discover and learn new technologies), is pleased to announce a series of MakerSpace events for the 2019 Spring Semester. All events are from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. in Space 154.
Explore how to code with Raspberry Pi, a small computer that plugs into your TV or computer monitor. You can code your own gaming system and play it on any HDMI connected TV. Our step by step guide will walk you through the setup of a Raspberry Pi with a game ROM of your choice.
Valentine's Day Hologram Selfie – February 8, 2019
Create your own special Valentine's Day hologram selfie video. Participants will capture a selfie, manipulate the video with Microsoft Powerpoint and then generate a hologram via a smartphone hologram projector. Tip: Wear dark colored clothing.
Space 154 Mini Golf with Sphero Robots – February 22, 2019
How could anyone make mini golf any more enjoyable? Adding Robots! Learn the basics of how to code your very own Sphero robot and try to complete the Space 154 Mini Golf course. Customize your Sphero's path by adding colors, sounds, and much more. Challenge yourself and let's see who can complete the golf course in the fastest amount of time!
Popsicle Bridge Challenge – March 8, 2019
The Mission: You are given a set number of popsicle sticks and tape to construct the most aesthetically pleasing and strongest bridge possible across the great desk divide. Once you have constructed your masterpiece, we will test it by applying half pound weights across your bridge. Does your bridge have what it takes to enter the Space154 Popsicle Bridge Challenge Hall of Fame?
Easter Egg 3D Printing – March 22, 2019
Show your school spirit with a Seton Hall themed 3D Easter Egg. In this session, we will build an Easter Egg in TinkerCad, and print it on our 3D printer using FDA approved filament. This 3D egg will capture everyone's attention once it is displayed. Participants will be notified when the printed eggs are ready for pickup.
Virtual Reality Experience – April 12, 2019
Virtual reality is one of the newest up and coming technologies that can challenge your senses like never before. Using our Oculus Virtual reality station, you will be able to leave this world, and enter the world of virtual reality. You can visit the landmarks like the Statue of Liberty or the Eiffel Tower with the Google Earth Virtual reality App. The destinations are endless, but the fun is not.
Pirate Catapult Launcher Challenge – April 26, 2019
The Challenge: You are given a cup, a spoon, some string, tape, a Pirate figure to launch, and several rubber bands to build the most effective catapult possible. Use your creativity to launch your figure as far as possible. Can you set a record and land into the Space 154 Pirate Launcher Hall of Fame?
