Send Silence Packing at Seton Hall

A photo of backpacks on the floor. We are proud to be partnering with Active Minds, the nation's leading nonprofit working to change the culture around mental health, to bring Send Silence Packing to SHU. Send Silence Packing is a display that inspires action around suicide by sending the message that you are not alone, help is available, and we each play a critical role in changing the culture around mental health.

We invite you to explore the backpack display on Thursday, April 21st from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on The Green (rain location in Jubilee Atrium) and to visit Behind the Backpacks, an interactive virtual experience that shares powerful audio stories and engaging, action-oriented ideas for how to change the culture around mental health in your community.

Click here to visit Engage for more information and to RSVP for the event.

Please note, the display explores themes of mental health and suicide, and includes personal stories of people who have been lost to suicide. In the event that the experience evokes distress, counselors from CAPS will be available. If you would like to avoid the display, please be sure to follow the "Alternative route" signs that will be on the outer edge of the display.

Our school has chosen to bring this display to campus through the Great Minds Dare to Care grant. Dare to Care is a university-wide collaborative suicide prevention initiative designed to foster shared responsibility for building a community of care at Seton Hall University.

If you have any questions or concerns, contact Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) at (973) 761-9500, or Active Minds' Send Silence Packing team at [email protected].
