Ilissa Nico joins Seton Hall University with a unique background in clinical social work practice, higher education, consultation, and training. Professor Nico has a variety of training and experience in both clinical and administrative roles within the mental health and substance use disorder settings. Through her roles both as a private practitioner and consultant trainer to the state of New Jersey, Professor Nico is well known and respected in the field of sexual abuse and trauma treatment. In the past, she has served as Adjunct Faculty and a Field Liaison at other major New Jersey Universities.
In addition to teaching Integrative Field Seminar, Ilissa is the Director of Field Education for the MSW Program. Her primary goal is to marry the classroom with the field, providing students with opportunities to become competent, compassionate, and mindful Social Workers. Professor Nico is passionate about challenging and supporting students to become their best selves and facilitate change within their communities and the world at large.
