Summer Orientation
Welcome Class of 2028. We've designed your summer orientation experience to get you started on your Pirate Adventure. You will have the opportunity to register for your fall classes, get to know more about academic life at Seton Hall, experience campus life and learn about involvement opportunities, engage with classmates, faculty, and mentors campus -- as well as get answers to many of the questions you might have..
New Student Orientation
All students can attend any two-day orientation from the dates below. Students can access the New Student Orientation chicklet in PirateNet to RSVP for Orientation.
2024 Orientation Dates
Orientation 1: June 17-18
Orientation 2: June 19-20
Orientation 3: June 24-25
Orientation 4: June 26-27
*RISE and EOP students are required to choose Pirate Adventure #1 or #2. Nursing majors are encouraged to attend Pirate Adventure #3.
Pirate Adventure Schedule

Day 1
Whether you are planning to live on campus or plan to commute, Day 1 of Pirate Adventure will give you a snapshot of life on campus! You will meet your Orientation Leader, learn about the various ways to get involved on campus, participate in social events and activities, and immerse yourself in Seton Hall’s Catholic mission and traditions.
Day 2
On Day 2, your day will be filled with opportunities to immerse yourself in academic life at Seton Hall. You will get to meet with deans and faculty from your academic department, register for classes, and learn about the various support services available to you.
Things To Do Before Orientation
- Placement Testing: When you log in to PirateNet to confirm your attendance, you will see the tests you will be required to take. Each test has a link to the online testing. Placement Testing must be completed by June 1 in order to register during orientation. For general questions, please email [email protected].
- ID Photo Upload: Campus ID is utilizing online photo submission for ID. Students have received the email invite from [email protected]. Please follow the instructions in the email to upload their ID photo. ID cards for successfully uploaded photos will be distributed at New Student Orientation.
- Visit the New Student Checklist for a list of things you can do to prepare over the Summer.
What to Expect at Pirate Adventure
- Opportunity to hear directly from Deans and Faculty in your program
- Register for fall classes with the help of an Academic Success Advisor
- Meet with Orientation Leaders, upperclassmen students, who will be with you step by step your first year
- Chance to connect with fellow classmates and university departments
- Experience student life on campus by attending social events and activities
- Have FUN!
Ahead of your Pirate Adventure date, you will receive an e-mail with information about moving into the residence halls. See below for what you should pack to prepare for your overnight stay..
What to Pack
- Comfortable clothes
- Sweatshirt/Light Jacket
- Twin XL Sheets
- Blanket and pillow
- Towels
- Toiletries- EVERYTHING (hair brush, shampoo, toothpaste, makeup, face wash, soap, toothbrush)
- Phone Chargers
Summer Virtual Resource Workshops
Seton Hall University's is excited to offer a series of virtual resource workshops this summer. These workshops will get you acclimated to life at Seton Hall and introduce you to key departments, procedures and resources that we have to offer. Workshops will be offered most Mondays and Wednesdays at 6 p.m. (E.S.T) starting in May. (E.S.T). Click here to view the workshop offerings.

Transfer Student Orientation
Thursday, August 22
Transfer Orientation will take place in-person. A full schedule will be available
in June.
New Student Welcome Weekend
Friday, August 23 – Sunday, August 25
New Student Welcome Weekend is a mandatory in-person event series for all incoming
first-year and transfer students. Welcome Weekend 2024 will take place August 23-25
with new student move-in taking place on August 21-22 – for more information about
