Seton Hall University has partnered with Microsoft to offer Microsoft Office 365 to students, faculty and employees. Office 365's productivity suite enables members of the University community to share documents, access popular Microsoft software applications online and work collaboratively. Starting in summer 2014, the University began migrating all faculty and employee e-mail to the Office365 environment in the cloud. Students were already migrated to Office 365 in 2013.
When you authenticate to PirateNet by clicking on the PIrateNet link in the header of any SHU webpage, you will notice a new Office 365 icon available to you. When you click on it, you will see that you have access to multiple Microsoft applications including OneDrive, Skype for Business, Office Online and more. You will be able to utilize these services as long as you are an active member of the Seton Hall community (faculty, staff or student).
How do I get started?
Once you click on the Office 365 icon in your login dashboard, Office 365 will open up by default to your email.
Your Seton Hall University e-mail account in Office 365 provides you with a 50 GB mailbox.
OneDrive for Business
OneDrive for Business, formerly SkyDrive Pro, provides users with 1TB of cloud storage. Please note that OneDrive for Business (enterprise software) is not the same as the OneDrive service Microsoft offers to individuals. For additional information on the differences, see How is OneDrive for Business different from OneDrive.
Office Online (Office Web Apps)
Use OneDrive to store, sync and share your work. All documents are private by default, unless you share them. The icons within OneDrive allow you to create new files (or folders) right within OneDrive.
Skype for Business (formerly known as Lync)
Microsoft's instant message and video conferencing product, formerly known as Lync, enables you to communicate with members of the Seton Hall community as well as set up online meetings. Read more about the new look and features »
Did you know that you can download 5 full copies of Office 2013? You can now run the full version of Office on up to five machines, either PC or Mac. You can also run Office for iPad on up to 5 tablets.
This is a new feature in Office 365: the ability to upload videos to your own channel for viewing by the entire SHU community, or through edited permissions. Read more about video »
