National Nurses Week: Seton Hall Honors Nursing Community with Week-Long Digital Celebration

Adrianna BertoldiEach year, National Nurses Week begins on May 6 and lasts until May 12, which is National Nurses Day and Florence Nightingale's birthday, the founder of modern nursing. This year, Seton Hall will be participating in a week-long digital celebration dedicated to acknowledging and honoring its amazing nursing community and the nurses around the world that play a vital role in providing health services. As front liners of the current global health crisis, nursing professionals need support now more than ever. It is their expertise and faithfulness during the pandemic that makes a lifesaving difference every day.

Thank You SignThe week-long celebration will consist of many ways the entire Pirate community can come together and show their heartfelt appreciation. One of the activities included is Make Noise for Nurses, where every day at 18:56 (6:56 pm), Setonians will be encouraged to populate social media channels with videos and messages applauding the hard work of nurses everywhere. There will also be a day dedicated to "going blue" where Pirates will be encouraged to either wear blue, hang up their Pirate flag on windows or doors, or tie blue ribbons or Pirate bandanas outside. Pictures can be shared on social media, tagging @setonhallalumni and using #SetonHallStrong. In addition, supporters will have the opportunity to send digital thank you cards to nurses, as well as participate in Pay it Forward, which calls for those that are able, to buy a coffee and send a coffee (via gift card) to their favorite nurse.

NurseThis year, as National Nurses Week coincides with a very challenging and uncertain time, it is with greater reason that the nursing community be uplifted and encouraged. Now is the time to recognize these modern-day heroes by extending a hand to let nurses know that they are seen and appreciated for all that they do.

Join Seton Hall in showing gratitude and taking action to give back to its nurses and nurses around the globe that give so much to their communities every single day. To learn more and stay up to date each day, visit the Nurses Week Celebration web page. Also, submit a thank you message to a nurse, or nominate a nurse hero by filling out this form.
